Turnout nomenclature, dirty window, daffy duck

I tried to include a little something for everyone in this post.

First, I thought a couple of you (perhaps at least 1?) might be interested in turnout nomenclature. After all, isn't it good for us all to be on the same sheet of music when talking about switches, oops, I mean turnouts.

Shortly after this photo was taken, I added the 3rd rail (a wire), and a homemade switch stand

You can tell that spring has finally sprung by the number of dead bugs on the VRE engineer's windshield, taken here from the passenger side at Alexandria, Va.

this waterfalls actually is about 20 feet tall in Crystal City, Va, beside the CSX tracks. It was so hot that this quaky duck decided to cool itself at the edge. At first, I thought it was a decoy-until it quak'd at me.
