The box is the standard post 1969 Lionel box. MPC re-introduced the orange and blue scheme for special run/high end cars and engines only. The number designation for your reefer is the post 1969 number. An example of the car is currently listed on e-bay.

I recently purchased a 6-5709 Lionel REA Reefer car and it came in a white box with red and black lettering with some pictures of other rolling stock on it. Can anyone explain the box. Were they for the cheaper rolling stock or what?
