Need help! A neighbor of mine has quite a collection of lionel trains but does not know who to contact to find out their value or where he can sell them.

Can you suggest someone? We live in the Apple Valley area of San Bernardino County. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

Hi John,

The best way to determine value is to pick-up one of the Greenberg Guides to Lionel Trains. These guides provide prices based on condition. They define condition and most have color pictures to help with identification. These Greenberg Guides can be purchased at most hobby shops or through this web site.

Once you learn the true value of each piece, there are several ways to sell them. Hobby shops will generally offer 50-70% of their value. There are action houses for larger collections and E-Bay for smaller ones.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Tim Pignatari
