Reply to Dough & Redhawk, Tom I know you were only kidding, hope I didn't sound offensive---I started off wanting to acquire some Lionel and started with a few cabosses, then got a Berkshire and now this long Lackawanna, guese I will just have to display the Lack or sell it or like you said, just run some of it at a time which seems like the better choice---
Talked to Bradys in PA where I bought the Lack and he reccomended I get A new ZW transformer {$325}-don't know if I want to go that far just to run once in a while, but will get the "roadbed" type track since I have all carpet.
Any who just more decisions.

The siding idea is a good one. If you have a staion on your layout is there a possibility you could add like a passing siding at the station so you could have what appears to be two passenger trains being serviced by one platform. Park half of the cars at the platform maybe with a dummy engine if you have one and presto, you have what looks like one train arriving and one preparing for departure. Utilizing a dummy unit allows you to keep power on so the dummy train is fully lighted.
If you ever get out this way you'll have to stop by and check out the the club layout. [^]

Hi doug, you know I have been west to Ft. Sill, Ft. Ord and Blanding Utah and I have to agree it is nice---to visit, but for the most part it has nothing to offer but sand, rocks, dirt and a tremendous amounts of sun scorching heat, at least in the East we do have grass and shade trees and some rain---but seems here lately you have been getting your share of weather.
Anywho you take yous and I'll take the East---too many weirdos in places like LA.
But we have our share as well!!
Still don't know what I will do yet with train set, but won't go to anybodys Museum,--Guraranteed!!
You got money---we can deal--[:)][:)]

There are museums and then there is the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.
Checkout the rest then come west and see the best.

Keep it! You could always put in a siding at the station to store the extra cars.

I usually try to limit the length of my trains to the long side of my layout, track run. Nothing is worse that a train that looks like it's chasing itself.

I had a similar experience. After buying a starter set I really wanted a passenger train. Went out and bought a Williams 6 car Madison style passenger set. Problems - My little 4-4-2 engine had a tough time pulling it especially with the 40 watt transformer! Then like you said where do you find the room to run such a train.
So that led me to this type of passenger train -

I've got the room to run these - easier on the wallet too!

Keep it! You don't have to run it all at once. For now put a few cars on a shelf and someday you may have a track long enough to run it.

Hello! I just purchased and got from Bradys in Pennsy. a PA-1A Lackawanna engine set and two cars together they measure over five feet long, in the meantime I bought six more passenger cars {4-in a set +2} so altogether this train will be over eleven and close to twelve feet long. Had no Idea this thing was this long and big . What kind of a track will i need to run this thing on??My small house won't hold it----If I sell four cars it would still be over seven foot long--
Sure is a pretty set and I really like it! Just doubtful as to how I will be able to run it --this would take up 1/2 of living room. Oh well keep or re-sell??[:)][:)][?]
