Looking for a bascule bridge
Posted by lionelsoni on Thursday, March 10, 2005 2:14 PM
I have about decided that the best way to handle a double-track main line through my bascule bridge is not to try to widen the bridge but to use two of them. I'm looking for a 6-12948 or 6-22972, the modern versions of the 313 bridge. However, I have no use for the little house nor the electronics inside it. So I'm hoping to find a bridge with failed electronics that I can get significantly cheaper than the fully operational ones I see for sale. Does anyone have any leads for me?

Hey Guys,

That was rude. I think that is the reason Bert and Mary Poppins left. Earlier today, I saw a topic stating that he had been acused of lying about a bridge.

He had lied about trains earlier, then, apologized, swore he wouldn't do it again, and asked forgivness.

I think it was very manly for him to ask forgiveness, as not many people can do that.

But, then he was treated rudley, and he was so upset, he left forever, so stated his topic.

I cameback to look for it, but it was gone.

But, I do know where you can get those bridges. There is a Balck one for $299 and a Silver one for $345 at Grysiboskis.

Thanks, Bradley, but I'm hoping I can find one well below the going price for a new bridge. There must be someone somewhere who wants to dump a bridge whose electronics are fried.

I am still looking. All I see on Ebay are new or almost new bridges, which routinely go for $200 to $300. But today I came across a remarkable auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4148&item=5983253398&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
For some reason, this one has been bid up almost to $600. I can't see anything unusual about it that would explain such a high price.

Two bidders are responsbile for the meteoric rise in price for that bridge. Looks like a classic bidding war going on.

I noticed a funny thing about that auction: It used the exact same pictures as a current auction, but a different seller.

Now I get a message from Ebay saying that the auction has been cancelled for violating their policies. I wish I knew what's going on.

Hallelujah! I just won a 6-22972 for $102.50 plus $25 shipping, after bidding on dozens. Now I'm worried that there is a catch to it, since it went so cheap!

Congratulations Bob! Thats a heck of a deal. I see someone paid that much for an empty box [:p] I'll bet the bridge is more fun!
