Just Happened to be in the neighbourhood ??????

Hello All: How many people when travelling or on business check out where the local hobby shops are? Or just happen to go past the magazine rack at the supermarket. When staying out of town, your wife & kid's are just TOTALLY SURPRISED that a hobby shop or train show is in the area. Have a great Sunday Steve[8D]

Yes, I know just what you're saying! I have always done that . It seems to make any trip more worthwhile, then you can say where you got this car or that piece from. John

Steve,

I do that everywhere I travel, from Calif to Florida to Chicago area.

The one thing most model train shops have in common, is that they are hidden from the public.

I'm lucky to have an understanding wife, especially when I make 10 mi. detour to check out a hobby shop I saw in CTT's list. See even put up with me during our vacation to Alaske a few years back when I had to find the hobby shop in downtown Anchorage.

I know where almost every hobby shop in Ohio is located as well as several in Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Now quality of the store is another matter entirely. Since my wife is a garden railroad fan, we often stop at the better stores when traveling. Looking forward to seeing the big store this summer near Rochester, NY.

I often plan business trips with visiting train shops on the way home

I am a person with a very active inner child. This is why my wife loves me so. Willoughby, Ohio - the home of the CP & E RR. OTTS Founder www.spankybird.shutterfly.com

I am going to be traveling back to my New Jersey roots in April - landing in Newark and after some visiting, renting a car and heading straight out on Route 80 to Columbia County PA. Since Pennsylvania seems to be O-Gauge Country, any stops I should make that are convenient off 80?

That's how I discovered Davis Trains and Roundhouse South.
Guess I'll have to shake the family tree to find out where else I can visit and look for more train outlets. [:D]

Here are my picks for the best places for O Scale trains in Ohio. Any of you other Buckeyes want to add some names.

Are you referring to Ridge Road Station? If so, it's an amazing place! They have a huge G scale layout, and walls just covered with G, O, and Standard locos and rolling stock. And for a local business, they have pretty good prices.

I try to hit them whenever possible, and look them up ahead of time so that I'll have an idea of where they are.

My favorite when travelling in Davis Trains. My sister lives in Florence, Kentucky, right across the river from Cincinatti. I can usually talk my parents into a trip or two a year at least(if not more) while up there visiting her.

Hi Ben, My sister also lives in Florence so whenever I'm in I head to Davis Trains to , it's only about 20 minutes up the interstate. [8D]
