Hi Kelpieflyer!! Lionel started American Flyer Christmas Cars in 1990, the 1990 box car is a little hard to find and will cost the most to purchase.

Hello Kelpieflyer ! Lionel Started the American Flyer Christmas Cars at least 12 years ago.The O Gauge Christmas Cars have been made for at least 20 years or more. At first they used to be made for the employees at Lionel then someone got the bright Idea to market them to us Collectors. Now other companies such as K-Line and MTH have their own Christmas Trains and individual Christmas rolling stock. As a result Christmas cars will be around for quite a while. Apparently many folks enjoy them...........Keith
