I am building this layout out of fastrack and grassmat. it was a super o layout. Is this a neat idea? has anyone used grassmat for somthing like this before? also, did lionel super o track only come in the o-36 radius?
Call me crazy, but I LIKE Zito yellow. RAILFANESPEE4449

sp4449,

Your idea is very good. Grass mat can be easily cut to form to allow for roadways, etc. You can use some simple white glue to hold it down and it will be easy to remove later. I used this many years ago on a simple 0-27 layout. Paint the board flat gray to start. Then when you attach the mat, you already have your roads an sidewalks painted.

When I was much younger, I used to staple the grass mat down so I could reuse it as I changed my layout quite often. The bad part was the edges started to turn up as it aged. You might be able to use some of the newer tapes (electrical and comes in several colors - ie green) to act as an edging for the mat.

Super O is 036 and so is Fastrak. The D-264 gives you a lot of action in a small space.
