mis-matched catalog

Here's possibly a silly question. I'm wondering if anyone out there has some experience with pre-war cataloges. I recently obtained what I thought was a 1932 Lionel catalog. However, it didn't match what I knew about products offered in 1932. I came to find out, I have a 1933 catalog with a 1932 cover. I see no signs of tampering, the rust stains from the staples on the cover match the stains on the following pages.
Am I missing something?
If anyone out there has an idea, I'd sure appreciate hearing it.
