I am a floor runner madly trying to drop the habit, but I see it taking me well into dotage. Actually, I made that enormous investment in RealTrax a few years back because of the living room rug. Both my daughter and I like to design and build new layouts, and let's face it, there is way too much planning involved unless you have a 16 x 20 carpeted living room with movable furniture and your design can be like Topsie--she just growed.

I don't have a carpet layout (I do carpet during transitions), but I enjoy seeing any kind of trains, carpet or table. I appreciate all your photos you guys post, even if I don't compliment each one.

Congrats, Jerry

We used to call ourselves members of the broadloom conspiracy - but that was back in the days when admitting to running trains on the living room rug made us the lowest of the low (pardon the pun) in the eyes of our otherwise good train friends. Since this looks like an attempt to elevate our standing amongst our peers I guess I'm ready to announce that I too really like running trains at floor level. As for pictures - a number of my floor pictures made it into past issues of CTT - (October 90, March 93, and May 95)

Hello All: Congratulation's Jerry on your new forum, Also I know your term as President will be a successful one. I also think it would be a great Idea for CTT to designate space for floorrunner's only (2-4) photo's, with Jerry getting the Innaugaural first spot.

I used to be a floor runner but I graduated to the garage. My questions to you floor runners are as follows. 1 Do you have children? 2 How do you keep people from stepping on your layout? 3 Do you take apart your layout when not in use? 4 If you have company over what do you dou with the layout? 5 How do you get away with setting up on the floor (wife/girlfriend)? 6 How long do you keep the layout on the floor at one time? I just want to know because I never was able to do it for long. The problems were either my wife complained or the kids got into my layout. I commend you guys on being able to run on the floor. I was always scared that some one would step on my trains.
