Replace/upgrade Lionel sound
Posted by ole1 on Monday, February 14, 2005 10:52 AM
I have recently picked up a Lionel 8305 engine and tender that came with Sound of Steam. The circut board is fried ( you could smell it when you picked up the tender and it was priced accordingly) and I'm thinking of replacing it with a newer style sound system. Any suggestions. Would preffer something I can get by mail or on internet as my nearest Lionel dealer is about a 150 mile trip.

ole1,

Your choices are somewhat limited if you are just discussing addition of a sound system only (vs addition of Lionel Command Control - TMCC or MTH PS2).

QS3000 sound systems (currently out of stock)

I should add that you could possibly get a replacement fro what you have via mail order from Lionel (got to Replacement Parts on their web page).

Hi, In addition to those sites, I know there's Train America Studios and Digital Dynamics. I have no idea how to put their webb sites on here, but if you just enter those names, you should get it. They both have webb sites and are mail order. Hope this may also help. John
