Does anyone own a copy of Lionel's board game Double Cro$$ing?

For that matter does anyone even remember it? I have owned a copy since it first came out back in 1988. I think I played it a couple of times, but then it found it's way to the shelf in the train room along with a number of other train related games.

My 10 year old daughter found it and wanted to play. I had forgotten how much fun it was. It plays a little weird, because it is full of all kinds rules that give you extra turns, and others that cause your token to jump all over the board. It just takes some getting used to.

It is nowhere near as mundane as Lionel Monopoly. I don't think it was simply a licensed product like Monopoly, as the instructions list Lionel's Michigan address.

If you have a copy, maybe it's time to dig it out. [swg]

I have one also Big_Boy.

We play it about once or twice a year.

It is an intersting game.

Another one I like is the Mexican Train Game, based on dominos w/ train pieces.

Yea Pat!!! I knew there had to be at least one among us that had this game. I think it was in the catalog for 2 years, then just faded from the scene. I guess it takes just the right person to have bought it back then.

I bought it to add to my collection of train related games. I have about a dozen different games, but I don't have the Mexican Train Game. I do have one by Ravensburger that is called Roads Rivers and Rails. It is based on a domino concept only simplified. Is the Mexican Train Game still available?

Elliot,

I didn't even know Doub.Cross. was cataloged.
I bought mine about 5yrs. ago at a hobby shop for $5.

This is where I bought my Mex. Train at; http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?deptID=&subOf=28&skunum=21623&src=TSC

Thanks for the link Pat.

As for Double Cro$$ing, it wasn't actually in the catalog. It was on the back cover of the 1989 catalogs only.

It is a fun game. In fact, some of our non-train friends liked it so much that we bought a set off eBay for them for Christmas.

Keep on training,
