The 8315 B&O General from the 1354 B&O set (1983-84) should operate on AC or DC. It's got a DC can motor but also a 3-position electronic reversing unit.

The DC-only Generals were the 8005 ATSF (without reverse) from the 1053 James Gang set and the 8410 Redwood Valley Express from the 1403 RVE set.

As far as I know they used traditional Lionel universal (ac or dc) motors. Some had 2-postion e-units, some 3-position.

Hey Ya'll

Bert is Mary Poppins' best friend in the Disney Movie Mary Poppins and the books the movie was based on called Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers. They riprinted the books recently and I bought Mary Poppins and Mary Poppins comes back as these were the only ones avalible.

But, I am not at all interested in the new Scale General. Things that are scale and cost alot are shunned by me. Even if scale modls are cheap, I shun them, these are meant to be toys, not a miniature, but then thats just my opinion.

I found a B&O General Set on E-bay. Where all the Generals DC motors, an the be operated by AC, decause DC is to frustrting for me.

YO BERT
WAAAAAASUP?????

How's Mary Poppins?

MPC and postwar Lionel generals that are in need of some repairs show up at shows pretty cheap. They were made with a lot of plastic and parts broke off easily.

ebay, is a good source too but it's hard to tell just what you're getting.

Everybody loves to find great trains in great condition real cheap but this doesn't happen a lot and you have to be in the right place at the right time. It's almost imposible to direct you where to go because we would of bought them by now or they will be gone when you get there.

If I were you, I would find a way of attending swap meets. Even if you don't buy anything, there is a lot to learn. And choo choo's for just about every budget.

Hello,

I am in love with many Prewar, Postwar, and Modern Era Lionel Trains. But, my recent fasination is Lionel General locomotives.

Here is a list of thsoe I would like to collect.

1. 1959 0-27 General Set (Trying to get one on e-bay right now)
2. 1960 Sears "Halloween" General Set (Might go for reproductio or peice on together)
3. B&O General with 3 passneger cars
4. Transylvania Raiload General with Screaming boxcar and work caboose

I would like to buy some extra coaches for the Postwar General Sets.

Where can I find General Sets and Set pieces for cheap????
