Watch out for that Tequila, you might end up with some unwanted S curves. [swg]

Dave,

It took trying all day to finally get the downloads.

Your track looks great. I am following your 027 rails and center wire technique with great interest. Looking forward to the next installment.

Roy

Thanks, Jon,

In the one photo of the stark (very hot) desert landscape, I have yet to decide how to bridge the canyon or possibly lay one track on each side. I'll ponder this with some tequilla, just as the real surveyors must have done.

BTW, I haven't yet layed ground cover on (sand, rocks etc). That is just latex paint over white beaded styrofoam. I splashed it on so I could visualize the landscape.

After I lay the 3rd rail 14-ga wire (that appears nearly invisible compared to the 027 rails), I'll post more photos. But the track crew needs some rest and they haven't been paid in a week, so us tracklayers need to hit the seedy joints in the wild west towns.

First 6 photos show layout under construction. If server busy, check back as it is a cheap website:

http://davidvergun.tripod.com/index2.html

Over the weekend I painted my layout and am continuing to lay tracks
(3rd rail wire will be installed later).

The layout represents the Santa Fe in the desert Southwest. Rails are
handlayed 027 and ties I cut and spiked.

I call my work the "Tequilla Sunrise" layout, because of the sunrise
theme and because I had some tequilla during construction.

I did the reverse of 99% of layouts. I first put the scenery down and
then installed the tracks (you can see one photo that still needs tracks
bridging a deep ravine).

This method is much harder because you need to perform line surveys and
dig cuts and fills, but it is much more realistic.

The Santa Fe diesel pictured here, is carrying a boxcar of beer to the
track workers.

I've still got a ways to go but just wanted you to see the progress thus
far.
