I wasn't sure what to expect until I saw the picture.  Now that looks pretty good!

Typically if I have a Lionel tender with the oversized scoop I take the thing off and leave it off.  Just don't like the look at all.

Well I tried to make it realistic as to size ,in the retracted position.

I found the tender kit on eBay for a very reasonable price,given it is made of brass .The tender floor is a slab of 1/8 "sheet brass with thinner brass sides.I constructed it with J B Weld and it weighs a hefty 2.13 lbs!I painted it using Painters Touch light gray over a coat of primer.I used Microscale decals followed by a clear coat Came out quite well.
