Yes I'm about 8 hours early.
here is a picture of the set I got back some time ago, This is the car I'm repainting orange to match some other cars I have and to make the set complete.
Primed
Here is roof painted, probably will need to do another coat.
I managed to do one vesible before running out of paint in sprayer and decided will continue tomorrow.
Same me, different spelling!
Good start, ol' Smokey 1.
My end-of-summer project were these turn-of-the-century "Heritage" hoppers, that came undecorated as Industrial Rail Shorty ore cars. The predecessor lines of the Western Maryland were the WVaC (West Virginia Central & Pittsburg), GC&CRR (Georges Creek & Cumberland), and the C&P (Cumberland & Pennsylvania).
Sparky is wheeling the train past the Bolt & Forge, and out onto the Consolidated Coal loading wharf.
Not exact replicas, but the Industrial Rail shorty ore cars capture the look and size of the hopper fleet that brought coal down to the C&O canal boats. Lettering was achieved with dry transfers. Coal loads were cardboard filler, topped with MTH coal.
The wharf was scratchbuilt with hobby wood, using photos from source material in my collection.
Looks great Fife.
A better look at my roof shows the bottom edge needs another coat or so and also the under side of the ledge along the top of roof. I haven't sprayed the inside of the roof other than with primer and I'm thinking of leaving it that way. So after it sits for 2-3 days I will go back and get the ends , edges, & the underneath that top overhang.
Nice Smokey!
I'm in the middle of re-doing some MPC-era Milwaukee Road passenger cars into Susquehanna cars. Hey, got 'em cheap at Henning's three weeks ago, four for $60, so why not?
Fall project!
Going to use it as a bridge? Three rail over the pick ups and down the fret board?
I wonder what that would sound like.
Seriously though - looks like a neat project.
We will need some after pictures when you are done.
