Some postwar locos struggling with tmcc
Posted by James Huff on Thursday, September 21, 2023 2:45 PM

so now i got tmcc setup correctly and running I noticed some of my postwar fleet having problems  struggling to run in reverse, but run perfectly in forward with the Eunit engaged with the cab1 remote. I using the original tmcc system with a 135/180 watt switch powermaster with a postwar zw transformer the main engine struggling the most in reverse is my 726rr Berkshire

Conventional operation with the PM-1 & CAB-1 should provide the same or better low speed performance.

The 726RR usually has problems in forward when the right rear axle bushing wears out, but continues to run splendidly in reverse.

Try the 726RR with just the ZW, no PowerMaster, and compare.  It probably just needs complete preventative maintenance - cleaning & lube(use modern synthetics).

I got the same results from running the 726rr with only the zw transformer.
