Legacy and tmcc together?
Posted by James Huff on Thursday, August 24, 2023 1:45 PM

So over the past month I ordered a command base 1 an pm1 powermaster and a tpc 300 and was trying to find a cab 1 remote to run prewar and postwar lionel with wireless remote control. now my uncle gave me his legacy control system including the legacy remote(cab2) and the command base 2 with the 4 software USB like things, the db9 3 way cable and the power adaptor for the base. Can I use tmcc and legacy together at the same time? Do I need additional components to use the pm1 powermaster? Should I keep tmcc as a backup in case the legacy system stops working? How do I use the legacy remote for controlling my conventional locos since I don't have any tmcc or legacy locos?

You only need the PowerMaster Bridge.

ok so with the powermaster bridge, I can use both the orignal pm1 powermaster and the legacy powermasters with my postwar transformers using the legacy cab 2 controller?

i don't have the legacy system just yet my uncle still looking for all the memory modules and the 3 way db9 cable and is planning to mail it to me once he gets it all together he's pretty sure that the legacy set came with 8 memory modules but he isnt sure.

in the meantime, do I need the cab1 remote to use the powermasters and tpc 300 or I can just use the cab 2 remote?

So now I'm confused with the powermasters in the video, he mentions you need the powermaster bridge if I going to be using both a tpc 300 for the postwar zw and 1 powermaster for the kw, how do I phase those two main transformers in my tmcc/legacy situation? Also, I understand that when I eventually add 3 sc2 units for my 022 switches I have to wire them fixed voltage. Since each sc2 handles up to 6 switches, do I need 3 additional small transformers 1 for each 6 022 switches each sc2 controls or one mid powered pw transformer like a 125 watt lw? How would I phase these transformers with the zw and kw? And last but not least, I don't see any way I can have all of these plugs go directly into the wall outlet. Can I get away with using power surge protecter strips that have a rating of 1800 jeules?
