My oldest grandson poses with his latest creation, an eight shelf American Flyer display. It's made of 1x3's, with Luan plywood backing. Dimensions are 40"Wx35.5"H, to fit the space under the layout edge.
Great photo fife. Those shelves look great and your grandson is turning into a handsome young man. How nice that he loves trains too.
I have been puttering with small jobs concerning trains.
This is an Ives car that I have had for a while and sadly it was missing hand bars.
I employed a little help from a friend and look at the magic.

Staying with your theam of Prewar, here is my latest purchase. The engine is a 9E but what I call a frankenstine engine, I believe the frame and shell are MTH remakes of Lionel prewar 9E but the motor is a McCoy motor. Now the white and peacock refrigerator car was only made in 1927/28 as it is a 514 not a 514R so I believe all the cars are 1928 as the Hopper was made from 1928 - 1942 the rest of the cars are 1927-1942 so with that info and believing the cars came from an actual set but something happened to the engine that was with it. I will if I can research to see if I can find a 1928 set that has all these cars.
