BigAl 956 So your plan is to control your postwar conventional locomotives using a TMCC or Legacy handheld remote? You should be fine with a ZW and/or a KW. The one thing missing is you will need a command base to receive the signals from the remote. Your handheld talks to the command base wich transmits to the TPC. I would wait for the new Base3 to become available along with the Cab-1L remote. If you just want to operate your engines the traditional way by cranking the handles up and down you do not need any modern Electronics.

so your saying that the zw and kw will be fine would the zw and kw be enough power for running 3 trains each having its own block plus the 12 switches that have fixed voltage plusthe accessories and lights? will the sc2 units provide power to the switches or will I need an additional transformer and tpc for the switches lights and accessories?
Lionel has a video that shows you how to set all this up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=841tryZ8oIE
so I am planning a 6 by 10 ,0 gauge layout with lionel 0 gauge tubular track and I only have prewar and postwar locos and I'm not planning on buying any tmcc equipped locos. If I utilize my 275w zw 190w kw and 125 w lw and divide the track plan into 2 main blocks and 1 small 3rd block will I need power masters, 300tpc's or 400tpc's for each block if run use the zw and kw for the larger blocks and the lw for the smaller block. I know I will need 3 sc2 for the 022 switches 711 switches and accessories but how would I power the switches? Do the sc2 units provide power for switches and accessories or do I need another transformer? Once I know what tmcc equipment I need to buy besides the cab1 remote and train master command base I will start another topic about how wiring.
