We also had an "Easter tree" she made when I was little.  She used a branch with big thorns that she planted in a weighted flower pot.  She knew how to do the traditional technique for drilling a tiny hole in an egg to remove the yolk and white.  Then she washed out the shells and dip painted them in the most amazing patterns.  A bit of soft pipe cleaner acted as the hanger.  I think there were at least 2 dozen egg ornaments, all in of them unique.  And she would make new ones if (when) we broke them.

My neighbor made the jeweled Easter egg years ago.  It's a real egg shell turned into a little hinged box and it's decorated inside too!  Big Smile. I've always treasured it!
