A question: Do post-war Lionel steam locos with Magnatraction require the drive rods to be made of a special metal? Can I retro-fit a Lionel #2035 motor and e unit into my Lionel #675 and have the drive rods from my #675 "fit" the wheels of the #2035? I think the shells for the #675, #2025 and #2035 are all the same. Thanks, in advance, for any helpful replies.

They all have the same part numbers... you are good to go.

Welcome aboard!

Magnetraction won't work with the silver rimmed Baldwin Disc drivers like you find on early 675 and 2025 locos.  Lionel switched to "sintered iron" rimless drivers when they introduced Magnetraction.

PS the shells and rods are 100% identical.  Big Smile
