Thanks guys, i was hoping that was the case.
Use the Blue loctite, the red loctite is for more permeant thread locage.
You can use Loctite but make sure you get the variety that isn't permanent. I'm not sure of the color but it should say on the packaging which variety it is.
I'm not aware of any torque specs but I'd say tighten down the screws until they're snug and firmly in place, that's what I do. You don't need to crank 'em down hard. And they should turn in fairly easily, if you've got to use force you haven't started them in correctly, back the screw out and start again.
Helo Folks, I'm not a newbie I just lurk way more than I post I am also a terrible mechanic so I seek help often. I have a 6' X 14' under Christmas tree layout and last season the two rear screws holding on the drive rod on the right side of the locomotive worked their way off. I found one and Joe at Grzyboski's was very kind to spend a great deal of time sourcing me the missing one. I have been running the locomotive as background noise on the outer loop while I set up the layout and out of curiosity I checked the two screws and sure enough they both were loose. I have two questions: 1) can I use Loctite or similar product on these screws to keep them in place? If so what color? 2) I have never seen any torque specifications for fasteners on model trains are there any for this application? Thanks for any help.
