Neat piece of Lionel history

I stumbled into this vid yesterday... funny thing is, I knew about this old article. But I never could have guessed that the owner of one of the YT channels I often visit owned the original model!

Now is that cool or what?

Cool as the hair on a polar bear's nose!

Thanks for the video!  Looks like I've got a new YouTube channel to binge watch!

There is some very cool stuff on this person's channel- lots of pre and postwar scale models in mutiple scales. What an amazing collection!

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but for an astonishing collection of pre and post-war trains you've got to check out this YouTube channel!

It's Jim Flynn's channel.  You may not remember him but back around 1990 or so Jim and his wife Debbie resurrected the tinplate Marx train line, and very successfully too.  I remember seeing the ads and they were also featured in a TM video.  I wasn't into Marx but the trains were elegant!

After a few years they sold the business to some outfit that wrecked it. So much for resurrected Marx.

Last January we lost John DeSantis of Pittsburgh PA.  Mr DeSantis amassed the most complete and comprehensive collection of Standard and Wide Gauge trains ever assembled.  (In a 30 room Victorian Mansion no less!)  I've seen photos of his mind-boggling collection but never had the chance to see it first hand.  Here's a short tribute article: https://lebomag.com/the-ultimate-completist/
