Interesting engines the P5's.  Built as passenger power they really didn't come into their own until they were reassigned as freight power, they didn't quite make the grade as passenger engines.  Pennsy enginemen were never really comfortable with the boxcab versions, being right up front without 50+ feet of boiler between them and a collision made them nervous.  The fear was realized when an engineer and fireman were killed at a grade crossing collision.  

They were much happier with the modified P5a's. 

Right, I don't envy King Charles starting a new job at 73 either!

Oh, OK.  The proper PRR designator was the P5a for the modified unit that resembled the GG1.  The unmodified unit was the P5.

I found a video of a guy running one, but he never gets it off the test track!  The track's Lionel FasTrack and there's what looks like an 036 curve off to the right but the engine NEVER gets there!  Anyway for what it's worth...

Sadly, but not unexpectedly for the PRR, it was more complicated than that...

There were two P5 prototypes.

They then built 90 production P5A locomotives from 1932 to 1935.

P5As built after 1 May 1934 were "modified" units with the centre cab. only 28 of these were built, so the majority of P5A units were boxcabs.

I had this drummed into me as a teenager, and I'm three months older than King Charles III. (I don't envy him starting a new job at age 73...)

So the centre cabs are "P5A modified".

One non-modified P5A was rebuilt with traction motors on the end trucks, becoming the only P5B and a B-C-B rather than 2-C-2.

Can you try to give us a little more information on that model?  I know the PRR operated Alco PA's but I'm not familiar with a PA-5.

At any rate, I can tell you Sunset Models by 3rd Rail are all scale models and in their case it usually means a minimum curve radius of 054, more for steam models.
