Since I buy several small items a year at the local hobby store, they always hand me a MTH, Lionel, Atlas, or K-Line catalog for free. I have never asked them for a copy and I have never spent a great amount of money in their store although I do purchase wire, glue, paint, grass, snow and other miscellaneous items.

I was at Nicholas Smith in Broomall, PA on Friday and they had a few dozen on the counter for $2.00 a piece.....

If you're getting ready to make a mail order purchase of a trainset, locomotive, accessory or whatever, you might consider giving Charles Ro a shot . Once you've purchased from them ( I don't know what amount the minimum order required is) they usually send you a catalog along with a price list of their entire stock. Be sure, however, to inquire as to your desired item's availability in stock before submitting your order.

Lionel's site did have a link to get a single one, but at a charge...

However, if you call them on the phone, they will mail you a free copy. (a one time deal).

MTH, on the other hand, will, for a one time fee of $3.00, continue sending you catalogues for a lifetime, without joining their "club".

I've recieved the MTH books since 2000 or so, and all I ever sent them was 3 bucks a long time ago....

Lionel isn't very generous.

If you join the Lionel Collector's Club you get one automatically in the mail. Lionel should also put it online soon.

Lionel catalog: Where/how?

I read with interest all the things said about the new Lionel catalog. As an inexperienced Newby with no train shops near, WHERE & HOW do I purchase one? I've looked at the company website but failed to see any reference to getting a catalog and/or getting on their mailing lidst. Any info appreciated !!
