Been there, done that, and I'll admit it wasn't easy, it took five months. I'm at 200 now and want to get into the 190's so I'm still working on it.
Still, 200 is only 25 pounds heavier than I was as a senior in high school 50 years ago so I guess that's not too bad.

Fife - did you lose some weight?I'm back up to 230 and need to get down to 200. Not sure what I will do to get there because I honestly have been eating much healthier the last few months and not going anywhere. I know I need to exercise... gotta start somewhere. lolNot looking forward to TheQ heading back to South Africa this Sunday. I know it is for her work and all, but it is just a super long flight and this time she connects through Newark (sp). Well not a whole lot going on these days. Just a hangin in. There's probably nothing I can tell you about servicing the 2055, but it's no surprise it needs a good lubing, old oils did tend to gum up after a time. It shouldn't take too much to bring it back to life, those things were built like tanks.

Yeah that is to make you walk around all over looking for what you want and be picking up thiongs you did not want. Has nothing to do with cleaning just profit.
Well I took the drive and picked up the stuff. No rime or reason to the consist but some nice stuff for $200.00. I am working on what is what and will post pictures as soon as I can. Those 2500 passenger cars are nice for 65 to 70 years old and I will rewire them with SuperFlex wire when I get a chance. The ZW (R) looks good but I had to do adjustments on the handle but it puts out 20.6 volts on all four posts. The other stuff is fine just looks it's age.
Flintlock, I had seen that about the 2055. It works but will need a good lube and the tender works well but also needs lube. I think I will need to clean out the smoke chamber because it does not pump smoke. Must be pluged. All in al looks like a good buy.
Reminds me of when a friend from NJ came to visit. I took him to a local supermarket on the day he was going home so he could pick up a sandwich for the trip. He went in the store by himself and was in there quite a while. When he came out he said "It's not like Shop-Rite! Nothin's where it's supposed to be!"
Was a reasonably warm day today, but I spent most of it indoors.Made some progress with a couple projects, including getting another Marx HO F3 back in good runnin' order again. It can get stuck easily from loosing contact, the wheels and track are clean so my plan is to add some weight to the chassis and see how that goes- it will increase the pullin' power if nothing else.Tonight was a celebration of my grandfather's 80th. We went out to eat at a favorite Japanese restraunt, the food was fantastic as usual! I think he had a good time.We'll see what the rest of the week has in store for me.Take care all.-Ellie

NICE, cooled way back today. Only 83 outside, way better than yesterday's 96. We also picked up a much needed 3/4" of rain over night. Maybe the grass will green up by the weekend. I will post pictures if everything works out tomorrow on the train buy. Not sure what I will be getting. I think that 2055 was 1953 to 55 only. Those freight cars all seem to be about there. I looked but am not finding any set the fits the consist so far.

Took another look at my train inventory on Monday - plans are formulating on the transferrence of train items to my parents house. And there is a lot to move. Probably September I'll start - there is a lot at the parent's house to move around to my liking first.
My Magnum exhaust will hopefully be done tonight, I'll pick it up after softball at 6 and County Fireman's meeting at 8, so It's gonna be a late night for me. Next is tires, most likely on Saturday. We leave for Chryslers at Carlisle in a week + 1 day, so the tire thing needs to get done.

If those are the car numbers you're golden. I see cars lettered for Santa Fe produced in 1991, but only the coach and dome/observation have car name plates.
The 1996 set is the one that's possible. It had the 19160 REA baggage, 19161 SILVER SKY coach, 19162 SILVER MESA dome and 19163 SILVER RAIL obs.
FYI, the D&RGW cars made in 91 have CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR plates above and SILVER name plates below. They were the 19122 ANTELOPE baggage, 19123 BRONCO dome, 19124 COLT dome, 19125 MUSTANG dome, 19126 PONY dome and 19127 dome obs. So at least for that set they were all domes outside the baggage car.

Well I am locked in and all set to take the trip and pick up those trains on Thursday mid day. I am hot for those 2500 series - Silver Dawn. # 2531-2534, passenger cars myself. The 2055 with tender will be nice as well as all of the post war freight cars. And a ZW. The track is of the brown tie issues and I think that places the stuff around 1960? Best of all she told me she will take $200 to help me out with the gas.
She told me her husband who passed only used the trains around the X-mass tree each year. So we shall see. My neighbor is going to take the drive with me to get them so we will do a lunch thing someplace up there. should be fun. Like Penny said, I have not had the best time this year and have not gone out much so I am looking foward to this outing. I will let you know what is all in the package once I see them. It will be interesting to see if the passenger cars are post war or classic re-makes? That catalog in the package looks to be from 1997 either way I don't think I can pass it up. I think they reproduced those cars in the 90s but not sure?

That whole package for $225? Oh hell yeah it's work the trip, from what I can see from the picture, although there's nothing like seeing it in person.
A working 2055 in good exterior condition is worth about $150 by itself, more or less. And look at everything else you're getting.
If you can, and feel up to the trip, go for it! You deserve something good after the time you've been having this year!

Greg, I'll be near Wiscasset ME late July, but my family usually in past years would go camping on Mount Desert Island, and enjoy Acadia National Park. Ever since conditions made it impossible to go, we've been visiting a family friend who spends the summer in ME, which is also a real delight- it tends to involve a good deal of sailing, which I really enjoy but have never done elsewhere. Was able to make it up to the trolley museum again today- it was a blast! We had lots of people come to visit, and the crew was kept nicely busy. There was just enough time (and personel) to squeeze in a lunch break One of the volunteers brought his speeder and was giving rides, and gave very helpful pointers on getting the museum's (on loan from a private owner) speeder to run optimally. Got to take it for a little spin before it got tucked back into its shed! It's a wonderful little machine, I hope I'll get to spend more time with it at some point this summer. Hopefully even give rides to folks.Tomorrow will be time spent with the family, we have a cookout planned and will be celebrating my grandparents' 60th anniversary. Will probably bring trains to amuse the younger children (and maybe a few of the adults).-Ellie

Got back from 2 weeks of vacation last night. We drove from Duluth to northern Maine and back, covering approximatey 3,900 miles. We took a vehicle stuffed with treasures to our daughter and her family. It was a LOT of driving and well worth the time to spend some time with our 9 month old grandson. This morning I am sitting on our deck overlooking the St Louis river and enjoying the sun and breeze and a cup of coffee. Dorothy was right "There is no place like home."
Looking forward to getting back into our normal routine and getting back to summer projects. Have a great holiday weekend.

Mornin' guys and gals. Overcast and 67 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Sipping my , tapping away on the keyboard, and listening to the Everly Bros Songs Our Daddy Taught Us in the background. Not much on the docket today, just the Nascar race this afternoon.
Hot day on the station platform yesterday. Met lots of nice folks before and after their train ride, but made my way to the RR museum's AC in between. Wifey bought me a cheesesteak "wedgie" from the local pizza shop.
Funny you mention a 1955 No. 41, 'cause I volunteered at the trolley museum today and decided to bring my '55 No. 41 up with my space n military cars to run on our layout for the 4th. They were the best red, white, and blues I had, and the '41 seemed fitting to pull them even though it's not as colorful. Mine runs well, but iirc I replaced the brushes when I serviced it, late last fall. If it still isn't behaving after the brush replacement, my next thoughts are (without knowing the service history of your wife's) to check if the E-Unit is stuck, and to see if there's old lubricant jamming up the works. I absolutely love my 41 and I think in due course I'll need to track down another one of these little critters, done up for a different road. Postwar or MPC, not too particular since they all (should) use open frame motors.Weekend going well so far, met some lovely people at the museum today. A family came by, there was a 95 year old woman who told us about how she grew up in Springfield MA and her house was right next to one of the trolley stops- she recounted a number of very cool details, it was a real treat to get to talk with her. I hope we see them again.Today my 6519 Allis-Chalmers car arrived in the mail- well packed in a sturdy box, thank goodness. Currently in the proccess of getting it ready to roll again, which hasn't been much fuss so far since it's in pretty good shape. I'm also having fun trying to learn more about the prototype car that Lionel based the model off of.-Ellie

Getting hotter by the day on The North Bluff. Ran trains yesterday and wifey's #41 switcher from 1955 decided to just sit there and buzz? After a look I found the brushes wore down to the springs. Got a new set on order and I am thinking that will get her back to working order. When I was working on it an alarm kept going off in the sump pump hole. So after looking it was coming on because the back up battery was low. Funny because the back up pump has not worked for years. As I checked on things the battery charger is now as bad as the back up pump. SO I just took it all off line and will figure something else out later. The main pump still works but I will NEVER get another Wayne set up again,,,JUNK!
People around here are getting an early start blowing things up. With 3 camp grounds within 3 miles a lot is going on.
Hot dogs,, wifey likes the garden on hers, I am ketchup mustard and relish.
