I have a early rs1 without cruse and a new one with. When both are on the track at the same time, the early one has a ticking sound in it and the smoke unit will not work.
Solution: this came right from Mike Reagon of TA to solder a 1mfd cap across the smoke unit. Use these pins. Find the spot where there is a plastic three prong plug in. Now look on the left side for a square spot where a lead connects to the board. Solder one lead of the cap there and the otherone to the next lead which is a round solder joint, and you are home free.
Now you can la***hem up with no problem. You still have to turn off the cruse control . Also in talking with Atlas about the new loco it seems it has a different design inside and it was not recommended I have the old one converted to cruse.
The two engines together will run slower than either one by itself so cruse is not necessary.
How do you spell cruse???? senior moment.
Dave.
