Sunday Photo Fun 1-23-05
Posted by spankybird on Sunday, January 23, 2005 7:05 AM
This week we are sharing some pic of our new K-line Robin Hood Beer refer with you. I have also done some pics of an Atlas refer as a comparison. I do believe the K-line is a good if not better than the Atlas at a lesser price.

A good day at the farm.

Train coming around the bend.

Slowing down and saying hello.

Chief taking good care of the cattle.

Night time at the farm.

Creating that scene on our layout was great fun.

Yes they can. Lionel SD80 MAC. Got a great fan. Blows smoke to the ceiling.

And I do not turn the lights down like some so the flash will make it look stronger. [;)]

Chief, the smoke isn’t dark, it’s that thick, just sheer volume of it.

LaZ , I remember when the Indians would have 5 cent beer night. The cops would have to clear the stadium by the 7th inning.

Sort of train related....... I know this is my 2nd post today here but I'm only about 6' from the fireplace and it feels so good.

Jon

This we bought last year in Durango, CO at the museum shop after riding the Durango & Silverton narrow gage. The clock behind it is way over 100 years old.

One more for Chief

TOM,
We had a bar in Hazleton, Pa. was called Doc Tigers. He was a real doctor who took care to the old coal miners and had a bar. He only charge a nickle a beer till about 1980 then had to put it up to 10 cents a beer. He died about 1990, RIP, but for 2 bucks you could get a good jag on.

what was the name of that place - Municipal Stadium?

When I was first developing an interest in baseball as a kid - which would have been in the real early 60's, I followed the Indians, until they traded away my favorite player. I remember seeing that stadium on tv, and it was h-u-g-e.

That was the name, “Municipal Stadium”. It held over 72,000 and many time the Browns had over 80,000 there. One of the last games that the Indians played there, I was at, with only 4,500 attending. The Jake has done much better until the last few years.

FRANK53,
Would your favorite player on the Tribe then happen to be Rockey Calivetto? He was mine too but I still stick for um.

that would be the case Laz. A friend of mine from around the corner was a big Colavito fan as well and we would check out his stats after school. I was p.o'd when they traded him and the Indians has the makings of a team. SOmewhere I still have an old copy of a baseball mag with a photo of Sam McDowell on the cover with a catchy headline "Sudden Sam -Tribe's Medicine Man".

They had a couple of great arms on that team including McDowell, Sonny Seibert and the ageless wonder - Luis Tiant.

AFter Rocky came and went in KC, I stayed with the A's and have every since - now in my 39th year as an A's fan.

Having grown up in New Jersey, however, I used to get the Yankee games on the WPIX tv and on the radio. I was listening to the Yankees in my garage on a Saturday afternoon and I forget who they were playing, but the Yanks were running out of pitchers, so they brought in the Rock in relief. He threw shutout ball, and might have had a strike out. He had a gun, that's for sure.

In any event, here's the Indians trivia question, which should be a pushover for a guy who remembers Rocky Colavito:

If you lived in Cleveland during the period of time we are discussing - from who would you buy your rags?
