Thanks for starting the new Pot fife. 26 degrees and overcast this morning with a potential of reaching 30. There is a storm brewing to the west that may bring us a big wet snow event starting Friday evening through Sunday.  This time of the year the snow is wet and heavy.  No mention yet of how much we might get.  I am so glad I have something to do inside for the next 2 months.

Have a Happy Fat Tuesday.  Sounds like a good day for pancakes.

Evenin' Fellas (and Ladies)

Still getting used to the new laptop's keyboard. The keys are slightly smaller than a fullsized keyboard, so my fat fingers need to learn new alignment... lol

Looks like the living room 'upgrade' is on hold, so just painting (not me) the foyer and great room for now. We'll investigate the living room upgrade later (we have two ideas that we'll need multiple contractor bids).

Anj - sorry to hear about Jenni. Continued prayers on that front. Angel

Kev - holy yikes! Heal up quick, that sounded very painful! Angel

Driving in to the office in the morning, so better get some sleep. I am hoping to put rubber to pavement @ 5:30am.

Its the season for green milkshakes at McDonald's to go along with all of the other green items in the heading of this month's coffee pot.

Mornin' guys and gal(s). Sunny and 34 in the Potomac Highlands. Shopping day, and supper at Cracker Barrel. Doing some Spring cleaning ahead of my buddy, Tom, visit this weekend. We will be heading to Altoona Sunday, for the Blair County train show. Did get those saplings planted, as well as some leftover bulbs I had in the shed.

There is some good video footage of the Photo Freight Special with C&O 1309, from last weekend. No, I wasn't trackside, and I would have liked to have photographed the WM SD35 and SD40 in service on the WMSR. I've got mixed emotions about not working there anymore, but it's good that steam is back in Cumberland.

88 - Understand your hesitancy to start on the new layout build. Take this time to construct a super-dee-duper Christmas layout. Something that you can easily set up and break down each year. That way, you can get trains up and running now.

Good afternoon and Ash Wednesday

Had Jenni out for a CT scan yesterday and made an afternoon of it.  We visited the ward where she was taken care of afterwards and she was greeted with hugs and tears.  She held court for 10 minutes and it was good to see her smile and laugh.  Great people there.  They kept her alive.

Had late lunch, early dinner at Stewart'S Root Beer, had burgers and fries, she had breaded mushrooms as well.  Then off to her house where I fed her animals.  She couldn't climb the stairs, so she did not go in.

Back to rehab, where they served chocolate ice cream with burgers and fries, lol.

Jenni was noticably better afterwards.  She needs to get outta there.  Monday, she comes to Mom's house for homecooked meals, PT and lots o'love.  I'll take good care of her.

Maybe we can get back to the trains, I'm hoping she feels well enough to hit Greenburgs Edison on the 12th, but we'll see.

Hope to get ashes later, I have to run the County meeting tonight and get crickets and dinner for Jenni, maybe God will forgive me.  Mom should, lol.....

Happy March!!!!

anjdevil - Rich, if I ever fall deathly ill, I want you to take care of me...Laugh  So good to follow Jenni's improving recovery. Stop feeding her crickets though.

Did get about 500 lbs of mulch down yesterday afternoon, but still need a bit more to cover everything. Grabbed a quick shower and attended the NRHS chapter meeting. Train show in Cumberland on April 30, and I volunteered to man our table.

Ms Kelly wants me to clean ceiling fans today. No

Good Morning -

Got my ashes courtesy of Jenni's Great Aunt and Jenni applied them to my forehead.  She had a chicken wrap for dinner, I with held the crickets and saved them for the frogs Smile, Wink & Grin

I ran the County Fireman's Association meeting, ran to Jenni's to feed her animals and had a late invite to the Princess' for pizza and the newest Suicide Squad movie.

Plan is to move the animals here to Mom's house on Sunday, food shopping and a little cleaning prior to Jenni getting here.  Hopefully I can still convince her to sell her house and just move in here, but we'll see.

Fife - I can take care of you as long as I have layout priviledges, I can bring some of my own engines......just not gonna buy you crickets...

40F now and dropping to the 30s later....very windy

Been thinking of doing just that Fife. I know I need to go through everything and thin it out. I remember having a few locos I wasn't impressed with. I do know I need to have a loop of O72, that NPC Zepher was a hit this past Christmas and it really is an eye catcher. The turbine sounds with 4 stacks blowing smoke was enough to get the train juices pumping. Smile, Wink & Grin

Need to by my TCA membership in before the end of the month. Not sure if I can make April York yet... big project at work and don't want to make plans incase that is roll-out week. Laugh

Mornin' guys and gal(s). Mostly cloudy and 28 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Warm temps coming today and tomorrow. Getting Fifedom ready for my buddy's visit. He's bringing a special engine to run in the train room.

Went trackside yesterday, and chased a very late Capitol Limited, with Amtrak 160 on the point. This is one of the special painted engines, this one coined the "Pepsi Can". Then got lucky with a special 1309 run-by on the north side of town. Came home to burgers on the grill, so good day all-in-all.

That was a good catch!  I was doing some lunch hour train watching several years ago and saw one of the old "Pepsi Cans" come through on an Amtrak train.  Quite a surprise!

Whew!

Finally finished a re-paint and decaling of some Williams passenger cars I haven't been able to sell at the local shows for the past three years, I figured I turn them into something I could use.

So, I re-did them into New York, Ontario & Western cars!  They'll go nicely with the NYO&W Camelback I got in 2019.  I did have a case of the shakes after doing the decaling, I haven't done anything like that in years! Indifferent

I've recently put my "Train Table" down in the garage after moving, and I've been running trains! Might even turn the barebones table into a small layout!

Mornin' guys and gal(s). Mostly cloudy and 59, with a passing Lightning this afternoon. Will be doing breakfast in a bit, then headed back in the train room for some video footage.

Tom brought his Lionel Legacy SD70ACe CSX 3194 to run on the high line. Up to now, there has been no issues running big diesels or steamers on the track. However, Lionel's new semi-swivel pilots cause an issue on O-36 trackage (and yes, they recommend O-54 curvature). The issue is that whatever you couple to the engine, has to have a significant coupler draft swing. The engine goes through O-36 just fine on its own. But it wants to pull whatever is coupled to it off the outside rail in the curves. I used a heavy MTH searchlight car to counter this action, which worked.

Yesterday, we rode up to Altoona for the Blair County train show. Nice assortment different sized scale equipment, and most tables were full. I picked up a Lionel REA reefer (circa '82), because it had archbar trucks, and was in new condition. Also bought a gorgeous 1909 Opel coupe, and some detail pieces (always check out the guys with On30 for those goodies). We went trackside afterwards, both in Altoona and Cumberland, then dined at my favorite local Thai restaurant.

Except hers was 1956 with the port windows, very little differences in the 55 & 56 models the main difference in the 57 was it had wings as there called on top of rear fenders.

Evenin Fellas

Smokey - you got me with that one. My Dad always wanted a '56 T-Bird with the removable portal window top. Unfortunately he passed before I could make it happen.

Fife - you have such a tough life! But if anyone's got to do it, it may as well be you my friend! We need to do another railfan with Sir Tom.

Yeah - anyone have an update on Kev? or AnjDevil?

Started painting the dining room walls above the chairrail today. Took 3 days to fix the mess ups by the builder. Bang Head I'm not a professional millwork guy, but you would think a pro would know how to cope an inside joint!

Heading to the Burgh this weekend for Mom's 75th. She had knee replacement surgery back in September and she says she is getting a round really good now. We missed seeing her for Christmas due to the 19 so will be good to see her again.

TheQ's Dad was in over the weekend, he turned 86 last weekend. The way he talks now it may not be long before he moves in. The kids are really after him to do so because he is having troubles walking (almost fell coming back in the house on Sunday). He is still chipper and the wit hasn't left him.

Better jump off here so I can get some sleep so I can work my two jobs tomorrow. Laugh

Mornin' guys and gal(s). 40 with wet snohizo in the Potomac Highlands. Spent yesterday in train room converting the rolling stock back to 19th century equipment. Hate trying to wiggle boxcars back into the plastic packaging and boxes. I need to get those shelves built this year. Ran trains for an hour, and Ginger (Texas 4-4-0) was misbehaving on the O-72 switches. Everything else ran smoothly.

Had nice phone conversations with Buckeye and DBaker. Both are well and keeping themselves busy.

88 - Safe travels this weekend. Saturday may be an adventure... Ms. Kelly wants to visit Oldest Princess.

you may not hear from rich much for a few as Jenni is home and besides everything else he is doing, he now must tend to her which I'm sure is not a chore at all but love as she is now home with him.

Good afternoon!!

Thanks, Smokey!!  Yes, Ms. Jenni is here with me, doing better.  Home nurse was here, approved of my abode and my set up for her.  PT later this week, we hope.

WE got her home Monday afternoon, we got her a shower yesterday and she's walking with a walker, not far, but the seat lift chair and the stair chair help her quite a bit.

I'll get here when I can, work is crazy busy, so I'm juggling multiple balls, but I got it, I'll get in a rhythem and we'll be off and running!!!
