Hi Everyone - I have a Lionel 8902 Steam Locomotive (circa ~1980) where the DC motor seems to be shorted out. The motor doesn't turn, and I'm seeing continuity across the two leads when I probe the motor with a multi-meter. Does anyone know what the part number is for this motor and/or a source to purchase a new motor for replacement? I'm also open to any ideas as to why the motor might be shorted out. I posted a few pictures of the motor as well. Thanks!
Out of curiosity, did you run it on AC or DC? Stupid question, but since these have no rectifier in them, they will only operate on DC. If you use an AC transformer, they won't go anywhere and the motor will jitter.I have a junked locomotive (forget if it's the same number) of this type with a good motor, if I recall correct. If you can pay for shipping, it's yours.-Ellie
