Thanks for the ideas, will try both.  I have tried removing some ties for the mailbag post for the 718, shimmer it to the proper height.  Works well.

I have installed uncouplers and 712 actuators two different ways in layouts built with Gargraves flex. The first way was to remove enough ties to create the needed gap, then cut off the bottom of the rail flush with the rail flange using a Dremel and cut off disc. Either item will then attach to the track. The problem with this method is the rails squeeze slightly together creating a slightly narrow track gauge.

A better way is to make short sections of Gilbert track to hold the uncoupler or 712. I just cut off the rails at the end of the second tie, making about a 4" piece of track with two ties. these mostly blend in with the rest of the track, especially after a small bit of scenic detailing.

I am using mostly Gargraves 37 flex and want to use my 712 activators. Has anyone over come the height issue and connectivity issue?  Help Bob
