Here is my old Bowman 234 paused at the station, still looking for a matching tender for this one, they were optional and this one lacks it.

The teacher addresses the doctor using the surname and he replies "Doctor Who?". As far as I know that is the only time the series title was used in the script.

Supposedly  there was an episode during the Tom Baker as Doctor Who era where the dialog went like this:

"I am The Doctor."

"Doctor who?"

"Exactly!"

But I missed that one so I'm not sure.

Beat me to it Becky!  Laugh

But Mike, I have two questions.

1)  Is that one of the British card stock buildings you mentioned on another thread?

2)  Is that a TARDIS or a real British police call box?  Huh?

In theory, the only difference between a TARDIS and a normal Police Call Box was the flashing blue light on the roof of the TARDIS.

The theory was that the TARDIS would be camouflaged as a normal Police Box so as not to draw attention.

In the suburb of Sydney, Australia where I grew up, there was the only real Police Call Box I have ever seen. It was only enclosed at the top and sat on a sturdy blue painted pole. There were two doors hinged at the side and sprung closed to cover the phone itself. The phone had no dial, you just picked up the handset and it connected you to the police station in an adjacent suburb. I never saw anybody use it and it was removed by the early 1960s. It was painted dark blue. I expect there may have been TARDIS style police boxes elsewhere. Certanly most normal red painted phone boxes were full height boxes with extensive glazing.

I recall watching the first episode of "Doctor Who" as first broadcast in Australia.

For those who missed it, there is a scene where a school teacher has accompanied the Doctor's young female companion home. The Call Box was located next to a scrap yard and the girl was using the surname of the owner of the scrap yard. The teacher addresses the doctor using the surname and he replies "Doctor Who?".

As far as I know that is the only time the series title was used in the script.

One way to have taller lamp posts that match the Lionel shape is to use the older #61 version.

Nice station complex, and I dig the old lampposts.

There's an English chap named "John" who appears on RailroadLayoutsPlans (on the youtube) that makes a lot of buildings and structures from printed paper and cardstock. Sometimes this bespecticled fellow talks absolutely bonkers, but he is entertaining as heck, and his work is worthy of a look.

I haven't watched "Doctor Who" in  while, just lost interest.  But as I understand it Daleks STILL can't handle stairs!

So they CAN be beaten!  Wink

Yes, that is one of my new UK cardstock kits, and according to the package for that Metal Earth kit, that is a TARDIS.  I have a Dalek kit I need to finish as well, then it will go on the layout to cause chaos!

New railway station on my layout

Got my new station installed, lighted and the street lights hooked up, even if they are a miss match.  Hoping to find another one of the tall Russian Moskabel lights as i like how it looks over the short Lionel gooseneck light.
