Dave, it is actually a good thing that it is difficult to bend the track vertically. In spite of our oversized couplers, too much vertical curve can cause derailment problems. Best to try to keep the transitions to a minimum like the real railroads.

I'm handlaying my 2-rail 027 track (w/wire down middle).

I've constructed the terrain 1st and find the track undulates up and down, following the contours. While 027 is easy to bend left and right, the up and down is more problematic because the spikes pull out when pushing the rails down. I realize that it would be less problematic with code 48.

anyway, I've come up with a solution. I take weight plates (5 or 10 lb) and put one on the track already spiked down and one plate on the portion that is sticking up that needs to be spiked down.

that does the trick

while no one else is laying 027 track w/18 ga wire in center, the trick could help others who use Atlas or gargraves flex track on undulating terrain, until they can screw the sections down. At least that is what I'm surmissing.
