And this was the only show set up that was going to use my layouts track, its going to start getting fastened down now.  I will procure more track before the shows that come after the holidays.  Mike

A couple of quick pics as I had just enough energy left to rebuild my layout track set up and unpack the engines.  Need to do a serious degreasing and clean up of the drive in the powered unit.  Someone went hog wild with grease that is now gummy and stiff. Neither communtator showed any evidence of burning at the outer ends of the slots, so its not been run hot.  Shells only have a slight bit of humpback these seem to be prone to.  Should clean up really nice, I need to get one porthole lense, all the others are there.  I have not tried the horn yet, its pretty motly looking inside.  But then I have those work fine and ones that look super clean need a rap on the side to get them to honk again.  I was sorely tempted by a 681 sans tender for $79 and a 2332 GG1 for under $200, but the Berk has more of a NYC look(its really modeled after a B&A engine, one of a small class that lacked all the huge feedwater heaters the B&A were known for).  So the NYC was the way to go.  Maybe I will get the Santa Fe version this spring.    Mike

Another great fall NMRA show in the books

Had a great time at the fall NMRA(CID division) show in Danville, Indiana today.  I had our new 3 rail group On the Spectrum 3 Railers loose lay Lionel layout running with my engines and rolling stock, many other layouts with HO, N, Z, G/gauge one in both live steam and electric(2 different clubs/groups).  Plenty of trains in 2 large rooms in all scales and dealers were making deals.  I had spied a pair of 2344 NYC F3's that were clean for $250, a bit more than what I brought with me.  I was back by that table about 3/4 thru the show and was discussing them with a friend and mentioned they were more than I had with me to spend.  He offered them to me for $185!  So they headed back to my table with me.  Didnt run at first, very gummed up with old grease(lots of it!) and both motor's communtators were fouled out.  A quickie service had it running like a champ, I will fully degrease the mess and redo it properly now that I am home.   They said around 975 thru the door or 1100 including the dealers and layout people.  Not bad for a partly sunny but cold day the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Hope everybody else that went to shows in your area had a great time.  I know I did.    Mike
