Rather than the steel guard rail I made the cable type that was in use back in the 50's. I used 1/8" square rod cut to suitable length for posts, shaved a point on one end for pushing into the "ground". I drilled two holes in each post and passed a fine diam. s/s wire, I have a roll from who knows where that's been around for years, and anchored it with a "spike" at each end.
