You may get blocked from coming back. I know someone who did for supposedly being rude to her. He doesn't remember saying anything rude and didn't mean to if he did.
I'm not sure why you characterized her as a "Sacrificial lamb", because she just reported the facts as they are. I wish she would have mentioned the reason why the forums aren't secure.
Perhaps the powers that be at KalmBach Media figured people on the forums wouldn't be posting any sensitive information that needed to be protected. Although that may be true, it's possible some of the people use the same usernames & passwords on other web-sites---including financial institutions. Thus if a hacker learns someone's username and password here, they may somehow track that user's web-site history to locate their bank, credit union, or PayPal accounts and then attempt to log in there using the same username/password pair.

Actually, she has, when they can, they actually need to get a new host for the forum. I guess they have some type of contract with the present one. I would thou suggest they look into Proboards and see the cost and if it could handle all the previous posts so we could go forward. It is a secured site. They may even get some of the ones that use to be here back like S.J., he will look in but will not sign in as have to clear cookies to unlog in to this site. Some of that creates a problem with other sites. ( me I have to get a call and enter a code to insert to get back on, I have a few accounts like that.) Until then I have a different password to this site than I do any other site.
For me guys I just see "Rene" as the next KalmBach Media Bob Keller. JMHO With that I will leave it.
To address a few points:
1. Yes I was reporting facts about the secure/unsecure sites. I verified this information with Digital Editor Steve Sweeney before posting.
2. The forums are not secure because of the version of software this forum uses.
3. We are looking at upgrading the forum, but I have no timeline on when that will happen. As you might guess, the upgrade/changes to Trains.com were a huge project that is still being worked on. (I'm not just saying this. I've been doing a lot of work for the website.)
4. I don't understand the reference to Bob Keller--did you mean that I may be the next person laid off? Or that I'm not a real employee (because I am, have been working at Kalmbach for 25 years)?
