LIONEL POSTWAR MOTORIZED UNITS
56 WORDS

BEWARE BACKWARDS ANSWERS

  1. Introduced in 1954, the No. (_ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _) Car had two fixed (_ _ _)) and one that (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) atop the (_ _ _ _ _ _) motor housing.
  2. Pairing a No. 3927 Lionel Lines (_ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _ _), with it’s (_ _ _ _ _) trailing behind, and a No. 54 yellow (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _) could have made for a useful and entertaining set in 1958.
  3. The No. 52 (_ _ _ _) Car has a “(_ _ _ _ _ _) gun” equipped figure whose (_ _ _ _) swivels when the car changes direction.  The car also has a (_ _ _ _) with a fabric (_ _ _ _) and swing-out sprayers.
  4. A “corrected” version of the No. 53 (_ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _) is harder to find than one with a backwards “a”.  The little (_ _ _ _ _ _) switcher has a yellow (_ _ _ _) plow.
  5. The No. 41 U.S. (_ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _) of 1955 preceded the No. 42 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) by two years, but only (_ _ _) year separated the Nos. 41 Davenport and 51 New York (_ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _) 30-tonner of 1956.
  6. “U.S. (_ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _)” and “(_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _)” were the markings on the No. 59 gas turbine of 1961 which had (_ _ _ _) connecting it’s drivers.
  7. Sporting (_ _ _) and white paint schemes opposite to one another, were the Nos. 56 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) & (_ _ . _ _ _ _ _) “(_ _ _ _) Transport” and 57 (_ _ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Vulcans of 1958 and 59 respectively.
  8. The No. 55 (_ _ _ - _ _) _ _ _ _) wore the (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Railroad’s Keystone logo and came with (_ _ _) dozen wood crossties.  It was activated after passing the included trackside (_ _ _ _).
  9. You can get dizzy staring too long at the spiraling No. 58 (_ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) rotary.  Maybe also as dizzying, many of the layouts constructed by Lionel’s display department, such as the Nos. D-291 and D-292 of 1960, had very short (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) tracks with bumpers on each end that a No. 60 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) car, with (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) of passengers in the windows, would bounce back and forth like a ping-pong ball on.
  10. Based on a New Haven RR prototype, the No. 68 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Car of 1958 replaced the (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) of old (which Lionel modeled as the No. 65) for line inspection duties.
  11. Used mostly on lines with catenary systems, the Lionel No. 69 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) car of 1960 had a revolving sign on it’s elevated (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _).
  12. The No. 3360 (_ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _ _ _) is self-propelled like the Cullen-Friestedt product it models.
