I have a need to connect a super O uncoupler directly to two O22 switches, one on each side of the uncoupler.  How can it connect the center rails.

It's possible, yes, and is worth the effort if you have the equipment on-hand... it makes good use of resources. The 022 has much better operational features than the O-27 switches from Lionel. This is a good transition step, too, for going to a wide-radius O-27 layout with the available curves(up to O-72) and switches(many available in O-42 configuration) if you want to run larger equipment later on.

It's possible, yes, but is it worth the effort? If you want to stick with tube track make the move to standard O. I made the choice to retire O27 on my layout and go all-in with standard O 25 years ago and never looked back.

Quick answer yes, but the pins on your O22 switches are thicker than the O27 track pins. so you will have to do some adjusting for that. I would recommend putting all your pins in the O22 switches and widen the holes in your O27 track. Also, make sure you have the isolation pins where they need to be.

022 switches with 027 gauge track
Posted by Beerye57 on Thursday, March 11, 2021 1:44 PM

Hello, Is it possible to use 022 switches with 027 gauge track? I know it's a bit unusual but I was thinking I could build up the height of the track at the entry/exit points of the switch and taper the track down gradually. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan
