I used Gorilla Glue super glue gel. Seems pretty permanent. Thanks for the advice.

A drop of CA glue has worked for me.

Me, too.  And in the past, I've used Walther's Goo with success.  Never had a marker jewel fall out.

Same here, super glue's all you need.

By the way, if you don't have the replacement jewels yet and there's a craft store in your area, like "Michaels" for example, Swarovski 3mm green crystals are a good substitute.  They're not as dark as the original Lionels but reflect light much better.  

(I think 3mm is the right size, it's been a while.  Measure to be sure.)

What is the best way to attach replacement jewels to the housing?  

I neede to replace a few.
