OK. I missed the finer point of your post regarding what type of frame it may have said in the catalog vs. what type may have been actually delivered when the units were produced.

Thanks Dave...Although the NYC 622 was made in 1997, the version made is different than the one in the Classic catalog. The catalog calls for the 622 to be the sheet metal frame version, whereas the unit from your response is the cast frame version. In my youth my first diesel was the 600 MKT NW2 which at some point my older brother put it into a New York Central paint scheme, so it was very much like what is in the 1997 catalog. I had seen the catalog back when it was new, but forgot about. Revisiting the catalog the other day peeked my interest. Thank you.
The NYC 6-18959 was definitely made. I am not 100% sure on the Erie.

Over the holidays I was looking at some of my Lionel catalogs when I picked up a Classic catalog for 1997. Inside there was the 6220 Erie NW2. I don't ever remember looking at that picture before, but remember the 622 New York Central from another 1997 Classic catalog. Not finding much on the internet regarding these 2 engines, the question is. Did they ever make these engines? Both are nice looking and representative of the sheet metal frame locos of the 1950s/60s.
It is amazing I have always had a thing for the mid to late 50s catalogs, but Lionel has made a lot of nice looking and fresh cars in the years to fill these newer catalogs.
