I set up my Halloween layout in the driveway for the trick or treaters. Lots of positive comments from the kids (and adults).
Good for you Billwiz! I thought about doing the same but didn't bother, maybe next year. Just as well I didn't. With the COVID we didn't get anywhere near the turnout this year we usually get. We've got a bunch of candy left to "dispose" of. It'll be tough, but we'll manage.
Ah yes Becky, the German word "freiherr." It's actually a lower aristocratic title. A direct translation into English is "free-lord." The closest equivalent in the English aristocracy is "baron," hence the reason the British called him "The Red Baron."
It's also the reason we call General von Steuben of Revolutionary War fame "Baron von Steuben," he was a "freiherr" as well.
And thanks for the YouTube connection! Watching it I figured those Aussie aviators had mixed feelings about the whole thing. On one hand I'm sure they had no problems rendering honors to a fallen distinguished aviator, even an enemy, but on the other hand they were probably glad they didn't have to worry about him being out there anymore!

Had the Halloween layout running, with some changes due to the Wuhan-Flu. Moved it right to the entrance of the garage so it could be fully viewed w/o entering the garage and maintain a certain degree of "social distancing". Had a few family friends with autistic children visit on late Friday afternoon, the kids just loved it. Saturday night's T orT'ers were very much less then years past but I guess that was to be expected. Looks like we will be munching on Welch's Fruit Snacks for at least the next month, maybe longer.
Well guess I best get up off my butt and start taking the Halloween stuff down and packed away, or maybe not.

Only 200? Holy smoke, that must be one heavily populated area you live in, either that or the stuff you give out is so good they drive in from miles away.
Around here the usual is 45 to 60. Then again, the trick-or-treating's only allowed from 6 to 9 PM. Couldn't tell you why, it is what it is. When I was a kid in New Jersey and Halloween fell on a Saturday we'd be at it all afternoon until it started getting dark. Then it was back on home, and start dividing up the plunder!

We live in a residential neighborhood surrounded by rural farmland. So yes, lots of carloads come from the surrounding areas.

We love Halloween and it's always a blast. Our first year here we were warned about the traffic - and still did not have enough candy! But hey, if it brings happiness to the kids...
I ended up watching several. WWII and NAZI Germany have interested me in the past and it sure looks like Mr. Felton has a lot of items in that genre. Thanks again.
