Some of you may remember my Lionel Postwar 027 layout.

Lionel Postwar 027 5' x 9' layout

I built, worked on and enjoyed operating from 2009-2018.  In 2018 we moved to a new residence and the layout had to come down.

Starting in 2018, I spent close to 2 years packing, unpacking, dealing with contractors and fixing up our new home.  At the beginning of 2020, we were finally feeling settled in and I started to think about building a new layout in our newly remodeled basement.  But, then the pandemic hit in March and for a couple of months I was reluctant to visit Home Depot or Menard's to purchase all the lumber I would need.  As May arrived I finally decided to order all that I needed from Menard's.  So here is a slide show from May-August 2020 of my efforts so far.  There is much more work to do, but I love to plan, build and operate my new Lionel Postwar 027, 6' x 10' layout so it has been a real treat for me, especially during this pandemic since we have been mostly staying home.  Toy trains have become an important, reassuring, relaxing and uplifting pastime in my life in this unfortunate situation we are in at the moment.  I will post more photos as time goes on.  What an enjoyable hobby!
