Ok, my bad from the beginning. The engine is Fleischmann and is 2 rail AC.
Anywhere I can find some of those would be a big help.
What gauge are we talking about here?
As far as I know Maerklin HO has only ever been 3 rail 16v AC.
Prewar (WWII) Maerklin O gauge was also 3 rail 16v AC.
Maerklin Z gauge is two rail 12v DC
But:
Maerklin No 1 gauge is 2 rail 16 v AC.
Which of these are you looking for?
Peter
Try eBay but look on eBay Worldwide and you may pick-up someone from Germany and they may be able to help
I may be wrong but isn’t Trix the two rail version and Maerklin the three?
You're welcome! And there MUST be something to that three-rail system, it's been around for over 100 years!
Yeah, all I see is that STUPID 3 rail system.
THanks for the info.
aboard!
Oh boy, you've got your work cut out for you.
The only thing I can think of would be on-line auction sites like eBay, or antique toy specialists like Pook & Pook, or rubylane.com. There's also ChooChooAuctions.com or Trainz.com.
Or, you can hit every train show you can (when the lid comes off and they start having them again) and keep your fingers crossed.
Good luck!
I have an older 2-rail AC set-up from Germany and am looking for some different engines to run on it.
Where is the best place to find older Marklin engines that use the 2-rail AC and NOT the new 3-rail ?
Any assistance is appreciated.
