During height of the Covid shutdown, I was given a 2035 powered freight set by a friend and member of our local Jeep club. It was the family set when he was a boy(he is roughly my age, so the train predates his child hood by many years). It had been sitting in the families barn for decades, had mouse nests in the accessories and the 1033's cord is all chewed up. But amazingly the 2035 is all original, even the boiler face with both markers. With a basic reoil and clean up, she reverse's flawlessly, smokes like a champ and shows very little wear if any. Took awhile to clean up everything as it was super filthy as it was in a open cardboard box. The track was rubbish, all rusty. But I have a nice loop of clean postwar and MPC era 027 track with 42" diameter curves. My old RW is filling in till I get a new cord for the 1033. Enjoy the video! Mike the Aspie

I'm glad it survived that well in the barn, and it looks great with your clean-up effort. Those engines give good access to the commutator without taking everything apart. Clean the commutator with a Q-tip and solvent, and take a toothpick to clean out the three slots. It'll run great until the brushes wear down.
Taking these apart is no problem for me, was a repair tech for an old Lionel train shop for about 15 years back pre 2000. A nice pair of 2343's have joined the 2035 today. Pics soon. Mike the Aspie
