MTH PREMIER LOCOMOTIVES 2000

  1. The No. 20-3036 (NORFOLK) & Western 2-6-6-4 (CLASS-A) came with ProtoSound 1, (FIREBOX) glow, and came in two and three (RAIL) versions.
  2. Three steamers lettered for the (PENNSYLVANIA) RR were shown in the (THREE) catalog volumes issued for 2000.  The Nos. 20-3043 T-1 4-4-4-4 and 20-3048 (Q-TWO) 4-4-6-4 (DUPLXES), and the No. 20-3038 (E-SIX) 4-4-2 (ATLANTIC) all wore (KEYSTONES) on their boiler doors, but only the Q-2 had a (DOGHOUSE) on it’s tender deck.
  3. The “yellowbelly”, or more properly the M-1 Steam (TURBINE) Electric, was built by the (BALDWIN) Locomotive Works and (WESTINGHOUSE) Electric to pull the “(CHESSIE)” between Washington DC and Cincinnati.
  4. Available in the (ATSF) silver and red “war bonnet” (No. 20-2223) or the (MILWAUKEE) Road’s orange and gray “Hiawatha” (No. 20-2222) paint schemes, was the DL-(ONE-OH-NINE) diesel built by (ALCO).
  5. The Premier Line locomotive for the (MILLENNIUM) Celebration Series was the No. 20-3040 (GOLD) and (PLATINUM)-plated NYC 4-6-4 (HUDSON), cab number 2000.
  6. The No. 20-2039 (HILL-CREST) Lumber Co. is a model of a locomotive built by the (CLIMAX) Manufacturing Co. of (CORRY), Pa.  The tilted (CYLINDERS) and rods turn a (CRANKSHAFT) to power the loco’s trucks.
  7. Like many models released in the millennial year, the No. 20-3044 (UNION) Pacific 4-8-4 with “(ELEPHANT) ears” came equipped with the new Proto Sound (TWO) Digital Command System.
  8. While UP’s FEF No. 844 still exists, no NYC 4-6-4 locos survive.  Not even an example of the exquisite Henry (DREYFUSS) styled 20th Century Limited No. 5450 MTH modeled as the No. 20-3045 with (BOXPOK) drivers.
  9. It’s called “(MOFIFIED)”, but the (P-FIVE-A) loco in (BRUNSWICK) green as MTH item No. 20-5510 isn’t an “altered” GG-1, they came (LATER).
  10. The No. 20-3047 (NEW-YORK) Central 4-8-4 (NIAGARA) with smoke (DEFLECTORS) graced the gold-tone (COVER) of the volume three catalog.
  11. Called a “(TRANSITIONAL) engine” in the text, MTH’s model of a G.E. (DASH) Nine came in four versions in the year 2000.  The Nos. 20-2267 Norfolk (SOUTHERN), 20-2268 BNSF, 20-2269 (CANADIAN) Pacific and 20-2270 Union (PACIFIC).
  12. No. 57 was UP’s only (PROPANE) Turbine and the No. 20-2261 set included the (RICHFIELD) Oil (TANK) car that acted as a tender.  The model was also equipped with an operating (MARS) light.
  13. Introduced in 2000 volume 3 was the No. 20-2250 (PIONEER) Zephyr Diesel Passenger Set.  The real No. 9900 of the Chicago, Burlington & (QUINCY) Railroad was the first diesel powered (STREAMLINER).
  14. The “boxy” General Electric (E-SIXTY) electric locomotives were cataloged as the Nos. 20-22623 red, white & blue striped (AMTRAK), 20-2263 blue & yellow (VIRGINIAN) and 20-2264 NJ (TRANSIT) models in this year called “(Y-TWO-K)”.
