Prewar AF motor runs slow and constant
Posted by Ennisdavis on Friday, June 5, 2020 8:51 PM

Any motor guys out there? My series wound motor appears fine, no shorts, .9ohms on each commutator pole, field coil .9ohms, no slop in armature bearings, new brushes, tried different brushes. Motor runs very slow and constant speed, no variation with increased voltage. Any thoughts.

The behavior you described is characteristic of DC shunt-wound motor.  Are you sure about its being series-wound?  Are you trying to run on AC or DC?
