To me the scratches and marks tell the engine's story.  It was played with and enjoyed by a child and bares those marks and scratches with pride.  Post some pics when you get a chance.    Mike the Aspie

Well, Dawn dish soap and a soft brush did the trick. Look great! As far as the scratch, I think I'll experiment on the inside of the shell till I get a close match. They're pretty shiny just with the wash I gave them. So I don't think I'll mess around trying to put any extra kind of shine to them.

Yes mild dish soap is a good way to go. Be gentle scrub softly. Extra careful with the lettering. As for the rest of your question, I'm not sticking my neck out.

Cleaning 2333 shells

I picked up a set of really nice 2333 Santa Fe F3s.  The paint is very good with the exception of some very minor nicks and one scratch on top of the dummy unit.  As usually seen on these, the tops especially around the vents look a little dirty.   I know that some of this may clean up and some will likely remain.  I was wondering given the history of the silver paint on these, what is the best way to clean?  Thinking mild soap and water and a soft cloth?   I would imagine its best to quickly hit and dry the area around decals too.  As I said the imperfections are very minor, however I would like to touch up the one scratch on top as it is down to the black color.  Does anyone know of a close paint color to touch it up?  Is there any way after cleaning and touch up to really make them shine?  I know some use Pledge on some things, but not sure it would be good on this silver paint.    As always, any help is greatly appreciated!  Smile
