Merging 027 and Fastrack loops

Thank you. With the CANADIAN USA border closed train materials are limited in Canada. Will have to wait for the border to open. Nobody has answered my question on what switch degree to use.

Hope someone can answer and if you have a drawing or picture  this would help.

I just spent over an hour with my twin nephews playing army with the train. Best time ever. Now need to search for military trains and cars. I have a missle launcher and they love it.

Try using a Fastrack adapter section, and swap the O gauge pins for O27 pins. Then plug to your O27 track as normal, with a roadbed or something under the O27 track to raise it high enough. http://www.lionel.com/products/fastrack-transition-piece-6-12040

Thank you. What switch angle would use? I took a few curves I had of various degrees and I found that the 072 is the best fit but being new to this I like to make sure.

If you take a piece of Fastrack and remove the pins on one end you can squeeze the Fastrack rails a bit at the middle/bottom and then shove the 027 track pins into the end of the Fastrack rails. Fastrack rails are simply formed U channels and easy to bend.

To remove Fastrack pins turn the piece over and unbend the tabs that hold each rail with a pin and lift the rail to remove the cast pins. Then push the rail back down and rebend the tabs on each rail.

You will need some shims to adjust the height of 027 to that of Fastrack.

Lionel also made Fastrack to O gauge adapters (Lionel PN 6-12040 ). Then you shove the O ga track pins into the 027 track. It makes a very tight fit. You could ease the fit by using a flat blade screwdriver into the slot under the end of the 027 track and widen the rail a bit.

BTW - you could use O ga track pins in the first scheme I mention and it will make a tighter fit into both the Fastrack and the 027 track.

Good Evening,

I have on my layout of 6 x 9 outside track (Fastrack) loop and on the inner loop I have 027 track that includes two switches left and right.

I would like to merge them so that I can have the train run on loop tracks.

What would I need to make this happen. I don’t want to get rid on my 027 but would like to make use of all available track to work together.
