"It doesn't fit." She came to that conclusion in less than 2 seconds, upon looking at the Lionel 106 bridge, that I had just retro-fitted onto/into the layout. I liked the looks of this pre-war gem, when I purchased it a couple years ago, and it's been resting next to its "home" on the layout (or sometimes right beneath). I had to "modify" it structurely, to service 2 converging lines.
Soooo, now I had to kick-it-up a notch, visually. I used Thomas Kinkade's Bridge of Hope, as inspiration. A wisteria vine kit from AMSI, flowering tufts from JTT, and an assortment of floral sprigs from Hobby Lobby and Michael's, were used to create this scene. And, the honey-bee approved of my results.
Putting the "Stay Home" order to good use...
I'm starting with the train office and work room first. The layout and displays will come later. Most of the collection will remain in storage until this room is finished. Consider these the "before" photos.

It was an important "want" when we were looking for a house. I feel blessed that along with the train office the major work on finishing off the basement was already done.
Nice job on the bridge Fife, the foliage really makes it!

Corgi did a good job on them but it would have been nice if the barrel could be lowered and locked in the position for transport.
